JOHN - Once Jayma and I got all of the important details made (apartment, school, teacher), we decided that we would leave for San Antonio on Monday, August 10. The week before, we had a going away party (or should I say parties) in both Bloomington-Normal and Peoria. We got to say goodbye to our family, friends, and co-workers. I was leaving two jobs (Hile Group and Acme Comics) and my awesome apartment that I shared with Dennis, so I was a little sad. However, I was anxious to start heading south. But, I hit a little snag.
As I was moving stuff back to Metamora, I started to hear a loud, grinding sound come from my car. This was occurring the Saturday before I was to leave. I immediately took it over to Goodyear and said they wouldn't get a chance to look at it until Monday. Since the grinding sounded pretty severe, I opted to schedule the appointment and notify Jayma of my vehicle problem. She was fine with it and, in fact, was happy to have the extra day to pack and say her goodbyes.
Thankfully, all that was wrong was a brake caliper was loose and they tightened it. They also replaced a valve stem on one of my tires. After all that, they ended up charging me NOTHING!! Needless to say, I was ecstatic. With the car fully operational again, I was ready for our Tuesday take-off.
